“The X Factor” is a popular show in the British television, and it was born as a answer to “Pop Idol”, the British version of “American Idol”. But now, the former American Idol judge will cross the Atlantic to produce the show “The X Factor” in the FOX network.
The music producer and celebrity has held the position on American Idol since its 2002 start, but he says he is leaving for a “new challenge”: “I think that you know when it’s time to move on,” he said. “[Money] wasn’t the reason behind it. I wanted to do something different. I wanted a new challenge.”
Cowell also confirmed that he is leaving the show on good terms with the producers in spite that he will start a show that will be a direct competition although in the same network. He added that he was offered more money to stay on as a judge, but that he turned down a new contract.
American Idol, which is also broadcast on Fox, haven’t announce yet who will replace him as a judge , although there are rumors about the return of former judge Paula Abdul – who left the show in 2009.
But Cowell still has one more season to make his good byes, and the rumors of the next judge will probably increase.
