Gaga, Timberlake, Usher…The return to social media after raising $1 million for charity

We‘ve announced the initiative last week: Some of the most admired pop stars in the world such as Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake or Usher, were going to shut down their social media accounts on December 1, as a measure to force people to donate some funds to Alicia Keys’ charity Keep A Child Alive.

This innovative call-to-action coincided with the celebration of the World AIDS Day, so obviously there were a lot of causes to raise money for. Especially when it comes to kids, sky’s the limit, right?

The truth of the matter is that the million dollars targeted by the campaign was already raised so that the pop stars came back to “social media” life.

Justin Timberlake tweeted: “Justin Timberlake is alive! We raised $1mil to help KCA fight AIDS. Thank you so much and never stop buying life! (sic)”

Alicia Keys also acknowledged all the help and showed her appreciation to all people who collaborated: “From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of the fans, friends and artists who stood together for this cause and saved real lives. I am humbled by the outpour of support from everyone.”
