Even though Beyonce declared a few months ago that she wanted to take some time off, it doesn’t look like she’s going to accomplish that goal anytime soon.
It has been officially announced that the diva has signed up for the remake of the classic “A Star is Born”. Beyonce will work with Oscar winner Russell Crowe on the project.
The project will be the fourth remake of the original movie from 1937 -starred Janet Gaynor and Frederic March. The following versions were in 1954 -a musical with Judy Garland and James Mason- and in 1976 –it was also a musical starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
So, Beyonce will be following the steps of giants such as Gaynor, Garland and Streisand. The plot is about a newcomer girl that dreams to make it big on the movie industry. She falls in love with another actor with a very well established career. Later on, the girl’s career starts rising as her lover’s goes down because of his problematic addictions.
For this version, and given Beyonce’s music career, it would be a safe bet to think that the musical would switch genres from Rock to a Pop-R&B style.
Nick Cassavetes –The Notebook- is slated to direct the film.
