Singer Halsey revealed significant personal and professional news, sharing details about a new album, a new song, and a medical diagnosis. The multi-talented artist, who uses she/they pronouns, made the announcements through a series of Instagram videos documenting their journey.
“Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive,” Halsey, 29, wrote in the post featuring videos of them receiving medical infusions. “Short story long, I wrote an album. It begins with ‘The End.’ Out now.”
One of the videos shows Halsey sitting on a couch, rubbing their legs in apparent pain, and expressing, “I feel like an old lady.” They added, “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick.”
While the exact nature of Halsey’s illness was not specified, the singer tagged the Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in their post, hinting at possible conditions. Representatives for Halsey did not immediately respond to requests for comment. However, the Associated Press reported that Halsey plans to make donations to both organizations.
The pop star’s Instagram post also conveyed a sense of determination and hope for the future. “At 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not gonna be sick. I’m gonna look super hot, have lots of energy, and I’m just gonna get to redo my 20s in my 30s,” they said.
