Michael Phelps, The most decorated Olympian of all time, has added another member to his growing family. The swimmer and his wife, Nicole Johnson, announced the birth of their fourth son, Nico Michael Phelps, on Instagram on Jan. 22.
Nico was born on Jan. 16 and joins his older brothers Boomer, 7, Beckett, 5, and Maverick, 4. The couple shared a photo of themselves holding their newborn, who was wrapped in a cozy blanket.
“We’re so blessed to be given a 4th child. We’re now a family of 6!” Michael Phelps wrote in the caption.
The Phelps family had revealed they were expecting their fourth child in October, on their fourth wedding anniversary. Nicole posted a photo of herself with her husband and their three sons, along with a sweet message.
“Happy Anniversary to my best friend, hubby and partner thru life,” she wrote. “I couldn’t have asked for anyone better! For those that are wondering… yes! we’re expecting our 4th Phelps in 2024.”
Nicole, who is a former Miss USA contestant, has previously said she loves being the only girl in the house. In a 2019 interview with People, Michael Phelps recalled how their son Boomer once told his mom, “Mommy, you’re the girl in our house.”
“She’s the queen of the household and she’s the only lady in there, so she likes it, I think. She said she enjoys it,” Phelps said.
