I’m going to be honest with you. I did not see ‘Avatar‘. Seriously. Despite all the hype and everything, I never got to watch this movie, never cared for it, never had any desire to watch it. No specific reason for this, I simply didn’t feel ‘attracted’ to it.
However, I am aware of the impact the movie had and I know that it has a huge fan-base. Which if probably the reason why they’re doing three sequels. You’re reading that right. Three. ‘Avatar’. Sequels. Three.
Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington have already signed on for all three sequels, which will be directed by James Cameron.
“Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they’ll be returning with us to Pandora,” the director said about working with the two actors.
Zoe and Sam aren’t the only ones who will reprise their ‘Avatar’ characters. Stephen Lang will also reprise the role of Marine Colonel Quaritch. SPOILER for the first ‘Avatar’ movie: I know Lang’s character dies in the 2009 movie so I bet fans will be interested in seeing how Cameron resurrects him.
Not much info has been released on the sequels except that Jake Sully and Neytiri, the characters played by Worthington and Saldana, respectively, have children.
The first ‘Avatar’ sequel hits theaters in December 2016, with the second following in December 2017, and the third in 2018.
