Jared Leto has won Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘Dallas Buyers Club‘ at the 2014 Academy Awards held on Sunday (March 2nd).
Leto was up against Barkhad Abdi, Bradley Cooper, Michael Fassbender, and Jonah Hill, but I think since the Golden Globes everyone knew the 30 Seconds to March frontman would be the one to take home the Oscar statue.
Just like Lupita Nyong’o, he offered an emotional acceptance speech which you can watch below. During the nominees announcement, he held his mom’s hand, and during his speech he thanked her for “teaching me to dream“. So sweet.
He also gave a shoutout to his band, got a big hug from co-star Matthew McConaughey, and dedicated his first Oscar win to “the 36 million people who lost their lives to AIDS“. Amazing speech.
What do you think of Jared Leto’s 2014 Oscar win?
