Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi has opened up about his past and marriage in a recent interview, admitting to “getting away with murder” in his younger days.
The 62-year-old musician spoke candidly about his early experiences in the music industry during ABC’s “Halfway There” special, hosted by Michael Strahan.
Bon Jovi made headlines previously when he confessed that he was “not a saint” in his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley. Reflecting on his past, he joked about having had “100 girls” in his life at one point, attributing this behavior to his rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle.
“I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star. I’m not a saint,” he said. “I’m Jon Bon Jovi. It was pretty good.
“But if you think I was ever going to jeopardize … anything for believing the narcissist in me was real? What a stupid thing to do. What kind of excesses does a man need that’s going to fuel that fire? It’s just not worth it.”
Bon Jovi’s Commitment to His Marriage
However, he emphasized that he never let his personal excesses jeopardize his relationship with Hurley, whom he praised for her honesty and support throughout their marriage.
The couple’s relationship has endured for over four decades, with Bon Jovi crediting their strong bond to their ability to support each other through both good times and bad.
Despite the challenges of maintaining a successful marriage in the spotlight, Bon Jovi and Hurley have remained dedicated to each other, raising four children together.
Speaking to “Good Morning America,” Bon Jovi offered advice to his son Jake and his fiancée, actress Millie Bobby Brown, urging them to focus on “growing together” in their relationship.
He emphasized that marriage is a constant journey of challenges and changes, but one that is worth the effort.
Bon Jovi’s reflections on his personal life come as his documentary, “Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” has been released on Hulu, offering fans a glimpse into the life of one of rock music’s most enduring figures.
