The long-running legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over their French winery, Château Miraval, has taken a new turn. Jolie’s lawyers are urging Pitt to drop his lawsuit and “end the fighting” for the sake of their family.
The former couple acquired the winery in 2008 as equal partners. In 2021, Jolie sold her shares, prompting Pitt to sue, claiming the sale violated their agreement.

Jolie’s legal team filed a motion in April 2024, alleging that Pitt refused to buy her shares unless she signed a broader non-disclosure agreement (NDA). They claim this NDA was an attempt to silence Jolie from speaking out about alleged abuse towards her and their children. Pitt’s lawyers have vehemently denied these accusations.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Angelina Jolie ‘s lawyer, Paul Murphy, accused Pitt of using the NDA “to cover up” his misconduct.
“Those actions are central to these proceedings,” Murphy stated. He added that Jolie desires to “end the fighting” but will pursue evidence to defend herself if necessary.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016 after two years of marriage. They share six children.
Jolie’s lawyers allege Pitt’s history of abuse began before a 2016 plane trip, but on that trip, he allegedly turned violent towards their children. This incident, they claim, prompted Jolie to leave him.
Court documents allege the abuse caused “significant and ongoing post-traumatic stress” for Jolie. They claim to have evidence, including testimony and photographs, to support these claims.
In contrast, Pitt’s legal team maintains it was Angelina Jolie who requested a broader NDA. Additionally, a friend of Pitt’s called the abuse claims a “pattern of behavior” used by Jolie’s team to distract from legal setbacks.
The reason Angelina Jolie never pressed criminal charges, according to the documents, is her belief that Pitt should take responsibility and help the family heal.
