Abba won’t be present at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony

This is the big night for many artists that will eld their position among the biggest names in music. Abba is one of the groups that this year will be honored but it was confirmed that the group won’t be together for the ceremony.

The fans were expecting a reunion of the band almost 30 years since their last performance together, but were disappointed. Only Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad will be present tonight. The other members renounced to be present that night because different reasons.

Its possible, though, that Benny Andersson will perform he told Billboard.com “If someone asks me to, yeah, I will,” but in spit of that he is not ABBA.

Last December was announced the news of Abba becoming part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame he comment to Rolling Stone Magazine “I didn’t think this would happen, because we were a pop band, not a rock band, being a foreigner from the North Pole, this feels really good.”

Besides Abba, Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, The Hollies and the Stooges will become the latest inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other inductees this year include individual recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award — record executive David Geffen and songwriters Jeff Barry, Otis Blackwell, Ellie Greenwich, Barry Mann, Mort Shuman, Jesse Stone and Cynthia Weil.

The induction ceremony will be tonight at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
