In the latest royal scandal to hit headlines, rumors of an alleged affair between Prince William and Lady Rose Hanbury have resurfaced, sparking speculation about Kate Middleton‘s whereabouts.
The Duchess of Cambridge has not been seen in public since December 2023, when Kensington Palace announced that she would be undergoing abdominal surgery and would not make any public appearances until Easter.
The mystery surrounding Middleton’s absence intensified when she posted an “altered” photo of herself with her three children on Mother’s Day, celebrated on March 10 in the UK. The heavily edited picture drew backlash, leading Middleton to issue an apology for the botched image.
Despite her apology, Middleton has remained out of the public eye, with only a few grainy photos of her riding in a car surfacing. This absence has reignited rumors of Prince William’s alleged affair with Lady Rose Hanbury, which first surfaced in 2019. Reports suggested that William cheated with Hanbury while Middleton was pregnant with their third child, Louis.
Who Is Lady Rose Hanbury?
Hanbury, born on March 15, 1984, is the daughter of Timothy Hanbury, a website designer, and Emma Hanbury, a fashion designer. Her mother is the granddaughter of Lady Elizabeth Longman, who had a close relationship with Queen Elizabeth II. Hanbury previously worked as a fashion model and briefly as a researcher for Conservative politician Michael Gove.
Despite being close friends with both William and Middleton and even attending their 2011 wedding, Hanbury’s relationship with the royal couple came under scrutiny due to the alleged affair. Rumors resurfaced in 2022 when gossip site Deuxmoi posted a tip about a British royal couple’s “extramarital affair,” leading fans to speculate that it referred to William and Middleton.
While neither Lady Rose Hanbury nor William has publicly addressed the rumors, the future king’s attorney denied the claims in 2019, calling them “false and highly damaging.” The alleged affair has also been briefly mentioned in Omid Scobie’s book, “Endgame,” and comedian Stephen Colbert even joked about the rumors on a recent episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”
