Cate Blanchett wins Best Actress

Safe to say, pretty much everyone expected Cate Blanchett to win Best Actress for her role in ‘Blue Jasmine‘. I think, had it not been Cate to win the Oscar on Sunday, it would have been a huge shock to everyone. This is the actress’ second Oscar win; she won Best Supporting Actress in 2005 for ‘The Aviator‘; and her first lead-win.

Blanchett’s competition this year consisted of Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench, and Meryl Streep.

His acceptance speech featured thanks to fellow nominees, her ‘Blue Jasmine’ co-stars and director Woody Allen.
