Melissa Rivers, the TV host and daughter of the late comedy legend Joan Rivers, is getting married again. She announced her engagement to her boyfriend of almost two years, Steve Mitchel, an attorney who works in the mental health field.
Rivers had previously said that she was not interested in getting married again, after her divorce from John Endicott, the father of her 22-year-old son Cooper, in 2003.

The couple met at a Didi Hirsch Mental Health and Suicide Prevention event, where Rivers serves on the board of the organization. They started dating in 2021, after Rivers had dated Jason Zimmerman and Mark Rousso in the past.
However, Mitchel changed her mind when he proposed to her on a beach in Mexico last month. Rivers told People that she was in “complete and total shock” and “beyond happy” when she saw the ring. She also said that her mom would have approved of both the ring and Mitchel.
Melissa Rivers shared some details of the romantic proposal, which happened while they were having dinner on the beach. She said that she was distracted by a boat that kept turning on and off its lights in the water, and did not notice that Mitchel was nervous. He told her that he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, and she said the same. Then he said, annoyed, “I got you something,” and pointed to the ring on the table. Melissa Rivers said that she was speechless and wearing the ring was her answer.
She added: “All of my friends are joking that I had a pretty good run and almost got to the finish line of staying single for the rest of my life,” she noted. “It’s something that I never believed in my heart of hearts that I would ever do. But, apparently hell freezes over and pigs do fly. I didn’t see it coming and it’s really not easy to pull a fast one on me.”
The couple is enjoying their engagement and are in “total bliss,” according to a rep for Rivers. They have not revealed any plans for their wedding yet, but Melissa Rivers had previously expressed interest in adopting another child in the future.
