I’m super excited to be writing about Kathleen Turner. She’s one of my all-time favorite actresses and I also love how she’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind and how she has managed to survive Hollywood without getting tons of plastic surgery, wearing wigs and extensions or showing off her private parts to remain relevant.
Kathleen is back in the public attention with two new roles. She will star on stage in Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children, which runs from January to March, and she’s also in the upcoming Dumb & Dumber sequel where she will play Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels‘ love interest.
The actress, famous for her beauty, is 59 now and she’s all natural. A rarity in Hollywood, Turner told Closer Weekly that she’s OK with turning 60 next year.
“I don’t look like I did 30 years ago. Get over it!“, she joked. “I’m going to be 60 next year. Sixty! And even I say to myself, ‘Okay, we can’t pretend anymore here.’ ”
The movie legend admitted that it isn’t easy to remain confident especially when fans remember her from her bombshell days. “One thing I get really tired of is people coming up to me and saying, [in a patronizing voice] ‘Oh, you look gooooood!’ One day I got so fed up I said, ‘I thank you. And I really wish I met you before so I could say the same for you.’”
She also offers pretty good advice: “You have to get to that place as a woman where you know your worth isn’t dependent on [looks].”
Focused on her career instead of looks, the “Romancing the Stone” star added: “I’m proud to have such a vibrant career. Acting’s never gotten tired for me.”
I love her.
