The Oscars are back and so is Jimmy Kimmel. The late night host will take the stage for the 96th Academy Awards on March 10, 2024, marking his fourth time as the host of the prestigious ceremony. He will be joined by his wife and Jimmy Kimmel Live co-head writer, Molly McNearney, who will serve as a producer for the second year in a row.
The Academy announced the news in a press release on Nov. 15, expressing their excitement and gratitude for the duo. “We are thrilled about Jimmy returning to host and Molly returning as executive producer for the Oscars,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said. “They share our love of movies and our commitment to producing a dynamic and entertaining show for our global audience. We are deeply grateful to Jimmy, Molly and their teams for their incredible creativity and partnership and for going on this ride with us again.”

Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the Oscars in 2017, 2018 and 2023, has always brought his signature humor and charm to the show. He has also been candid about the challenges and rewards of hosting the biggest night in Hollywood. “Being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honor or a trap,” he joked to Variety in 2023. “Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”
The 2024 Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theater, following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike that disrupted the entertainment industry. The nominees have yet to be announced, but Jimmy is sure to have some fun with the films and stars that will be in the spotlight. Last year, he pulled off a hilarious prank involving a donkey that he claimed was from the movie The Banshees of Inisherin, which was nominated for Best Picture. He later revealed that the donkey was not the real Jenny, but a male donkey named Dominic from Los Angeles. He apologized to the fans and the Academy for the confusion, promising that it would never happen again.
