Hugh Jackman took to Instagram to raise awareness of a life-threatening illness, skin cancer.
The actor revealed that he was recently diagnosed and treated for skin cancer and urged fans to go to the doctor and get checked as well as use SPF before exposing to sun.
Jackman wrote that it was his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, who convinced him to visit the doctor.
He Instagramed a photo of his bandaged nose post-treatment and captioned it with “Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!”
Glad to hear he is OK!
Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer. According to skincancer.org, it rarely causes death, but if left untreated it can be disfiguring. Usually, it is caused by intense UV exposure.
