Former Stereophonics drummer found dead

Cable was a founding member of the Welsh rock band, which rose to fame
in the 1990s. He later became the presenter of a rock show on BBC Radio
Wales and formed a new band Killing for Company.

“Rest peacefully. Stuart Cable 19 May 1970 – 7 June 2010. You will be
missed,” read a message on Killing for Company’s website.

South Wales Police confirmed the sudden death of a 40-year-old man at a
house in the town of Aberdare at 4:30 a.m. (GMT) on Monday morning.

“Cause of death has not yet been established, however there are no
suspicious circumstances at this stage. Next of kin have been informed,”
police said in a statement. Cable’s brother Paul said the family had no
further comment to make at this stage as the death was a matter for the

Stuart Cable abaondon Stereophonics because of a lack of commitment to
the band. Cable, at the time, presented a TV show called “Cable TV” and
felt that the band would never improve. Because of this, he missed
several rehearsals and live concerts. He was eventually replaced by
present drummer Javier Weyler
