Edwyn Collins is back 5 years after stroke.

The singer will be releasing later this month a song as a part of a tribute album to soul singer Mavis Staples. His 19 years old song will be playing the lead guitar. The song is called “I’m Feeling Lucky” and he said about the song “is about positive music. It’s inspirational, in a way.”

Edwyn Collins is one of Scotland’s most important songwriters, and as the former singer of Orange Juice, has was an big influence on several bands, including Belle and Sebastian and Franz Ferdinand. But in 2005 he suffered a stroke that almost kill him. He had to learn again to to speak and write again, recently he made an emotional return to the stage.

He will be performing “I’m Feeling Lucky”in London on 18 February to launch the album. Ed Harcourt, Kevin Rowland and more will be present also that night. The album also features Candi Staton, Welsh solo artist Cerys Matthews and more.

Currently he is working on a solo album. Ryan Jarman of The Cribs and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols are working with him. Collins declared about his new album, “I’m really happy with the results. It’s great, it’s exciting, it’s positive it’s happening again once more.”
