Did Black Eyed Peas steal “I Gotta Feeling”?

At least this is what a Texas-born musician claims in a plagiarism lawsuit filed on Thursday against the popular band.

Singer and songwriter Bryan Pringle filed papers in federal court in Santa Ana, California and alleged that BEP based their chart-topping I Gotta Feeling on his very own song Take a Dive.
According to Pringle, he copyrighted his single back in 1998 right before he submitted the demo material to labels such as Interscope Records, UMG Recordings and EMI. Apparently the executives admitted that they received the material, however were not interested in signing him as an artist.

This is not the first time that the popular band, is accused of plagiarism. In January, musician Phoenix Phenom also filed papers against the band claiming that the rhythm and lyrics of their super famous Boom Boom Pow were copied from his very own Boom Dynamite.

Interesting enough, both cases are currently handled by the same law firm that claims that: “A pattern and practice of intentional copyright infringement with respect to the unlawful copying of songs of unknown or lesser-known artists.”

Let’s just hope this helps unknown talent to get the recognition and money they deserve, don’t you think?
