Demi Lovato Covers Self, Opens Up About Eating Disorder & Cutting

Demi Lovato graces the cover of Self magazine August 2012 issue.

The X Factor judge looks absolutely radiant in a sparkly lime minidress.

Demi chatted with Self about her past struggles including her eating disorder, being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and cutting herself, but also also about happier stuff like friendship and her new job.

Check out the highlights of her interview featuring questions from her fans!

On how her friends helped her get healthy:

“I surround myself with people who make positive decisions and who have more interests than wanting to go to clubs and get wasted. My friends and I  look out for each other, and I love just inviting everyone to watch TV. I like Law & Order – except it makes me want to go out and inspect everyone on the street to see if they’re a serial killer!”

On being the youngest X Factor judge:

“It’s so much fun! I root for everyone. I mean, it’s not the best feeling when you’re watching someone and cringing. But when a person’s confidence is magnetic, I don’t have to hear her to think, Oh, this girl has got something.”

On cutting herself:

“There were times I felt so anxious, almost like I was crawling out of my skin, that if I didn’t do something physical to match the way I felt inside, I would explode. I cut myself to take my mind of that. I just didn’t care what happened. I had no fear.”

On when she feels most confident:

“I used to feel most beautiful on the red carpet, but now I’m most confident on the beach, with no makeup and no worries about my hair”.

She’s right to feel confident with no makeup. Demi is one of the celebrities that look amazing without makeup on.
