Arcade Fire showcase London comeback |

The Canadian band aired material from their upcoming new album ‘The Suburbs’ at Hackney Empire, the first time they had performed in the UK capital since November 2007.

The current tour is just a “boot camp” according to Win Butler, to their new songs before opening big at the summer festival appearances.

The groups joke with the crowd about the England Football team before starting with two new songs songs – ‘Ready To Start’ and ‘Modern Man’. They present another six over the evening

Arcade Fire are set appear at this weekend’s Oxegen festival in Ireland this weekend (July 9-11), and will headline this year’s Reading And Leeds Festivals in August.

Butler revealed that he feels that it’s an “exciting time” to be in the band. “It really feels like we’re at the point in this tour now where we’re playing really great and the new songs feel really vital,”.

In a related news LCD Soundsystem leader James Murphy revealed that he missed two opportunities to collaborate with the Montreal band but he wants to try to do it for the next one. “They’re way younger than me and they’ve got five more records in them, I’m sure,” Murphy said.
