ABBA in the rock and roll hall of fame

Genesis, the group that Phil Collins began, and the Stooges, Iggy Pop group among others, will also share the honor.

Each of these groups will be presenting live at the ceremony to be held March 15, 2010 in New York City and will air live on Fuse.  ABBA, that has not appeared in a live concert since the early eighties, and has turned down offers to perform live, is more likely that they won’t be there. In 2000 they rejected one offer, now famous, from $ 1 billion dollars.

The presence of the group is almost impossible, the same Benny Andersson, member of the group, said. But he said the group does not want to do it mainly to respect what the group was: “The people who are really fond of ABBA for what we did, I think we are doing them a favor by not going out.” Andersson told Rolling Stone magazine. Anyway he was pleasantly surprised by the news “It’s quite wonderful, I did not think this would happen because we were a pop band, not a rock band.”

Moreover Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks , the group that had been rejected seven times and finally will be honored, said that they are trying to get Peter Gabriel to participate in the show, though not guaranteed: “Peter is a bit elusive, but I’ll probably talk to him soon and see if he has any concept of what he wants to do. ”

But if these singers, along with others, will be honored next year and become part of a club prestigious, others who were among the favorites were not chosen. Among them: Kiss, LL Cool J, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Donna Summer.
