Reality TV star Melissa Gorga had a moment of panic when a 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit the Tri-State area, initially mistaking the shaking for a ghostly presence in her home.
The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” celebrity, 45, shared her experience , revealing she was in her Franklin Lakes, N.J., mansion when the quake struck. She recounted feeling the ground rumble while working out, leading her to believe it was a supernatural occurrence.
“I was freaking out a little bit … I’m like, ‘Wow! Like, I’ve never experienced a ghost before, like, maybe that was a ghost,'” she said.

Describing the sensation, Melissa Gorga explained, “It sounded like my roof was shaking, the floor was shaking, and it really did sound like a stampede, like people were running, running, running. And I just froze ’cause I get nervous.”
The Envy by Melissa Gorga owner also mentioned she thought her house might have been broken into since she was alone with her dog and received a notification that her front door was open.
Panicked, she ran upstairs with 911 ready to call. Her husband, Joe Gorga, contacted her soon after to ensure her safety.
Despite the initial scare, Melissa Gorga later joked about the incident on Instagram, sharing a home security video. While the video didn’t show the house shaking, rattling noises could be heard along with Melissa’s screams.
Damage from the earthquake is currently being assessed. This was the largest earthquake in the Tri-State area since 1973, according to WABC.
