Pop sensation Demi Lovato and songwriter Jordan Lutes have announced their engagement. The singer and the songwriter, who collaborated on several songs for Lovato’s latest album, announced their engagement on Saturday after a romantic proposal in Los Angeles.
Lutes, 32, presented Lovato, 31, with a stunning pear-shape diamond ring from Material Good, a luxury jewelry boutique in New York City. The couple then celebrated their happy news with their families at Craig’s, one of their favorite restaurants in L.A.
A Musical Connection: How Demi Lovato and Jordan Lutes Met
Demi Lovato and Jordan Lutes met in January 2022 when they co-wrote “Substance,” a song about Lovato’s struggles with addiction and recovery. They went public with their relationship in August 2022, when Lutes posted a series of adorable photos and videos for Lovato’s birthday.
“Happy birthday to my best friend. You’re obvs the most beautiful and talented person to ever do it,” he wrote. “But more importantly you’re weird af and u make me cry laughing.”
The pair have been inseparable ever since, sharing their love and support for each other on social media and in interviews.
Lovato, who uses she/they pronouns, told CBS Mornings in March 2023 that they were in a “really good place” with Lutes and their music.
“I don’t know what I’m going to write about on my next album because I’m so happy. It is a really good feeling … definitely a bunch of sappy love songs — for sure,” they said.
Lovato also opened up about their love story to SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up in July 2023, saying that they and Lutes were “friends first and foremost.”
“We became friends first. We were friends for several months and then we decided to start dating and well, after we told each other how we felt,” they said.
Lutes echoed Lovato’s sentiments in a heartfelt post for his birthday in March 2023, calling Lovato his “sweet angel.”
“I’ve waited my whole life to find you and I can’t wait to celebrate so many more birthdays together… you’re a literal dream come true and I’m so grateful to call you mine,” he wrote.
