Shannen Doherty is not giving up on life, despite facing a devastating health challenge. The actress, who is best known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, revealed that her cancer has spread to her bones, after previously metastasizing to her brain.
“I don’t want to die,” she told People in an article published Nov. 29. “I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not—I’m not done.”
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission two years later. But in February 2020, she shared that her cancer returned the year before and was categorized as stage 4.
The 52-year-old said that her diagnosis has made her look for the bigger purpose in life, and has also inspired her to work on her projects and passions. She also said that she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor earlier this year, which was one of the scariest things she ever experienced.
Shannen Doherty thankful to god
Doherty said that she relies on her faith and the support of her loved ones to cope with her situation. She said that she prays every day and thanks God for everything. She also said that she cherishes every moment and feels blessed to be alive.
“I know it sounds cheesy and crazy, but you’re just more aware of everything, and you feel so blessed,” she said. “We’re the people who want to work the most, because we’re just so grateful for every second, every hour, every day we get to be here.”
Doherty is currently working on a new movie called Fortress, where she plays a woman who is kidnapped by a group of terrorists. She said that the role was challenging but rewarding, and that she hopes to inspire other people who are going through similar struggles.
