The ongoing legal saga surrounding Cher’s bid for conservatorship over her son, Elijah Allman, has taken a dramatic turn with shocking new allegations from Elijah’s wife, Marieangela King
New court documents reveal King’s stunning allegations that Cher is “manic depressive” and “categorically unfit” to manage Elijah’s affairs, particularly his financial decisions. King contends that Cher’s involvement could jeopardize Elijah’s recovery from substance abuse, citing concerns about her ability to manage her own affairs, let alone those of her son.
“Cher is not capable of managing her own affairs — let alone those of Elijah,” King writes.
“To my knowledge, the petitioner has never known the security code to her own home, does not drive, does not prepare her own meals or dress herself, and has
admitted to me that she is a ‘manic depressive.’”
According to King, Cher’s personal assistant, Jennifer Ruiz, has assumed control of Cher’s private and public matters and could do the same with Elijah, potentially exposing him to triggers that could compromise his sobriety.
Cher’s Past Actions
In a fiery objection of his own, Elijah asserts that he has been effectively managing his finances, living with King in a rented home, and maintaining his sobriety. He claims to have been using a financial manager to handle necessary payments from the trust left by his late father, Gregg Allman.
Elijah further reveals that he has voluntarily undergone drug testing three times in January, all of which yielded negative results. He asserts that he has been clean from “illicit substances” since October 10, 2023.
The contentious battle is set to continue, with another hearing scheduled for January 29. Cher, 77, initially filed for conservatorship in December, alleging that Elijah was missing. However, a judge temporarily denied her petition after Elijah appeared at a hearing in early January.
King has also spoken out, criticizing Cher’s past actions and asserting her role in supporting Elijah’s sobriety. She has condemned certain treatment facilities and emphasized her commitment to Elijah’s well-being.
