The Grammy-winning singer and the poet have been dating for two years, but sources say they have been broken up for at least a month. The news has been spreading in Nashville, where the former couple lives.
Kacey Musgraves, 35, and Cole Schafer, 29, met in a crowded restaurant in June 2021, where they had an instant connection. “He did not know who I was, which I loved,” Musgraves told the New York Times later that year. They soon made their romance official on Instagram and shared their love with the world.
Kacey Musgraves was previously married to singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly, but they announced their divorce in July 2020, after nearly three years of marriage. She has been working on her new album, Star-Crossed, which is inspired by her personal journey of heartbreak and healing.
Schafer is a writer and founder of a creative agency called Honey Copy. He has published several books of poetry, including Some Days I Feel Everything and Some Days I Feel Nothing At All. However, something seems to have changed in their relationship, as they have both unfollowed each other on Instagram. Musgraves has also been posting cryptic messages on her Instagram Stories, hinting at some trouble in paradise. She has not deleted any photos of Schafer from her feed, though, and neither has he.
Musgraves’ rep have not provided any details so far. Schafer also did not respond to our request for comment.
