Anna Cardwell, a reality TV personality who rose to fame on the TLC show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”, has died after a 10-month battle with cancer. She was 29 years old.
Her family confirmed her death on social media on Sunday, saying that she passed away on Saturday night at her mother’s home in Georgia, surrounded by her loved ones.
She died on Kylee’s birthday, according to a statement from the family’s manager and friend Gina Rodriguez. The statement also asked for prayers and respect for the family’s privacy as they cope with the loss.
Anna Cardwell’s sister Alana Thompson, also known as Honey Boo Boo, and mother June Shannon, also known as Mama June, paid tribute to her on Instagram, calling her a fighter and saying that she was at peace now.
“I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken,” Thompson wrote. “Watching my 29 year old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy.”
Cardwell did not publicly announce her cancer diagnosis, but she shared updates on her condition on Instagram and TikTok throughout the year. She underwent radiation and immunotherapy treatments, and in July, her mother told Entertainment Tonight that her cancer was stage 4 and aggressive.
