Prince Harry and Meghan Markle privately reached out to Kate Middleton after the Princess of Wales revealed her recent cancer diagnosis. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, known for their strained relationship with the royal family, also sent a public message to Middleton after she shared her diagnosis on Friday.
Currently in the early stages of undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy, Middleton expressed shock at the diagnosis. She and her husband, Prince William, are focused on managing the illness privately for the sake of their three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
“We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment,” Middleton shared. “My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now, I must focus on making a full recovery.”

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the couple said in a statement. Middleton, 42, revealed that she learned about her cancer diagnosis after undergoing planned abdominal surgery in January. Initially thought to be non-cancerous, tests later revealed the presence of cancer.
The announcement also addressed conspiracy theories surrounding Middleton’s whereabouts since her hospital release on Jan. 29, putting them to rest. The news of Middleton’s diagnosis comes after Harry’s father, King Charles III, was also diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
Upon hearing about his father’s diagnosis, Harry, the “Spare” author, 39, rushed to visit him across the pond, highlighting the family’s unity during challenging times. Harry and Meghan gesture towards Kate Middleton amid her cancer battle is a reminder that family bonds can transcend differences.
