Former CNN anchor Don Lemon announced on Wednesday that he is returning to media with a new digital show on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Lemon said that X’s founder Elon Musk, who invited him and other left-leaning journalists to join the “digital town square” in June, inspired him.
Lemon’s new show, called “The Don Lemon Show”, is the first project of his new media company. He said it will be available to everyone, anytime and anywhere, on the platforms where the conversations are happening. He also promised to deliver honest debate and discussion without censorship or interference.
Lemon’s move follows a trend of prominent news personalities who have left mainstream media outlets and launched their own independent ventures on X or other platforms. Among them are Megyn Kelly, who left NBC and started her own podcast and radio show; Chris Cuomo, who left CNN and launched his own podcast and merch line; and Tucker Carlson, who left Fox News and created his own streaming network.

Lemon had worked at CNN for 17 years before he was fired in April by former CEO Chris Licht, who was later removed from the network himself. Lemon had been one of the most outspoken critics of former President Donald Trump and his supporters, often clashing with his colleagues and guests on air. He said he was “back bigger, bolder, freer” on his Instagram post, where he shared a teaser of his new show.
Don Lemon is one of the latest examples of news personalities who have left mainstream media and embraced the digital revolution. By launching his new show on X, he hopes to reach a wider and more diverse audience, while enjoying more freedom and creativity. He joins the ranks of other influential journalists who have found success and satisfaction on X or other platforms.
