Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre had a bitter feud in 2011 that led to Sheen’s departure from the CBS sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’, after he verbally attacked the co-creator of the show.
More than 10 years later, Lorre said he has moved on from the past and reconciled with Sheen, who even landed a role as a fictionalized version of himself in Lorre’s new Max series ‘Bookie’ before the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“I had a great time working with Charlie on ‘Two and a Half Men,’” Lorre said to Variety in a Nov. 1 interview. “We made 170 episodes together before everything went wrong. And most of the time, we enjoyed ourselves.”
Lorre said he contacted Sheen’s rep after “hoping he’s doing well” and wanting to bury the hatchet. To his surprise, Lorre found out that Sheen felt the same way. “I was anxious, but as soon as we started talking, I realized, we used to be friends,” Lorre said. “And that friendship seemed to come back all of a sudden. I don’t want to sound too sentimental, but it was healing. And he was also totally willing to poke fun at himself. When he showed up for the table read of that episode, I walked up, and we hugged. It was wonderful.”
Executive Producer Lorre also praised Sheen, 58, for his performance during the script reading.
“He was so sharp and skilled,” the producer said of Sheen, who Variety reported could not comment on his reunion with Lorre because of the ongoing strike, “as if nothing had changed.”

Charlie Sheen played Charlie Harper, one of the original “men” in Two and a Half Men, for the first eight seasons of the CBS comedy alongside Jon Cryer as his on-screen brother. Sheen went into drug treatment and the eighth season was shortened.

The main reason for the fight between Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre was Sheen’s drug addiction, HIV diagnosis, and public rants against Lorre and the Two and a Half Men team. Sheen was fired from the show after eight seasons, and he sued Lorre for allegedly interfering with his contract. Sheen also called Lorre “a turd” and made antisemitic remarks about him.
After leaving Two and a Half Men, Sheen starred in the TV adaptation of Anger Management, which ran from 2012 to 2014 and produced 100 episodes over two seasons. Since then, Sheen appeared on The Goldbergs and in the movies Scary Movie 5, Machete Kills and 9/11. The father of five revealed he was HIV positive in 2015.
