Renowned Hollywood producer Carol Baum, celebrated for her work on iconic films such as “Father of the Bride” and its sequel, sparked controversy with her recent remarks about rising star Sydney Sweeney.
According to the reports, Baum expressed disdain for Sweeney’s acting abilities and appearance during a discussion following a screening of her 1988 film “Dead Ringers” at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville, NY.

Baum reportedly remarked, questioning the hype surrounding the young actress. Baum, whose executive producer credits date back to 1984, revealed her skepticism after watching Sydney Sweeney’s latest film, “Anyone But You,” during a flight, describing the romantic comedy as “unwatchable.”
Baum’s criticism extended to her students at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, where she teaches.
“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?'”
Baum recounted. However, she acknowledged the allure of working with Sydney Sweeney, if it meant greenlighting a project.
“We all want to get the movie made, and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know,” she admitted.

Sydney Sweeney, known for her breakout role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s “Euphoria,” earned acclaim with an Emmy nomination in 2022.

Speculation surrounding Sweeney’s personal life, including rumors of an affair with co-star Glen Powell, added to the film’s pre-release buzz.
However, Sydney Sweeney dispelled these rumors during her hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live” in March, affirming her commitment to fiancé Jonathan Davino, with whom she co-produced the movie.
