For many of us, putting up the holiday decor is the absolute best part of the season—a treasured, favorite tradition. Whether you’re one of those people cutting down your tree practically before Thanksgiving dinner is even over, or you’re pulling that trusty pre-lit spruce out of the basement later in December, the goal is always the same: getting into the spirit.
And honestly, celebrities? They’re no different. They love to deck the halls, too, each with their own unique style. Some lean into a super sentimental aesthetic, while others dive headfirst into massive, gorgeous themes. They value the ritual, just like we do. Let’s take a peek at the best displays we’ve seen this year, from cozy family moments to those seriously over-the-top, jaw-dropping setups.
Family First: The Cozy, Romantic, & Relatable Vibe
This year, some of our favorite stars proved that Christmas isn’t just about the look; it’s about the love. And, frankly, the chaos!
Newlyweds Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco set the bar for romance. Sharing their “first Christmas as a married couple,” they made it sound like the coziest night in. They paused every few ornaments—seriously, every few—just to share a kiss. It’s hard to imagine a sweeter way to trim a tree. That’s a truly lovely, intimate memory in the making.
Over on the family front, it was all about tradition. Today host Dylan Dreyer captured that feeling perfectly, announcing, “Now it feels like Christmas!” after getting her tree up with the help of her three adorable children. That simple moment really does change the whole atmosphere of the house.
And you have to appreciate Hoda Kotb. While hanging ornaments with her daughters, the real highlight was the creative solution needed to get the star on top! Hoda had to boost her daughter Haley onto her shoulders to reach it. That’s a classic, slightly desperate mom move we’ve all attempted to complete the mission.
Speaking of family moments, Lindsay Lohan gave us a sweet glimpse into her new life. She captured a beautiful shot of her son Luai observing their tree. The tree looked incredibly well-appointed, classic and elegant, but the focus was clearly on that precious baby enjoying the festive lights.
When Bigger Is Better (And Sometimes Chaotic)
Some stars simply don’t do things halfway. They believe in the grand scale, and frankly, we admire their dedication—even if it seems a little exhausting.
For Joanna Gaines, it’s all about size. She wrote on Instagram that her husband Chip’s personal motto is “the bigger the tree, the better.” And she posted the video to prove it! The sheer size of the stunner they were hauling into their home was enough to make your jaw drop.
Thomas Rhett also opted for a massive, over-the-top display, choosing a gorgeous Winter Wonderland-inspired theme. But here’s the most relatable moment of all: he was laughing as his pregnant wife, Lauren, inspected the tree, worried it had “too much blue on one side.” He teased her by claiming he couldn’t detect the color anywhere, to which she insisted, “It’s so blue!” It’s a sweet, funny peek into marriage during the holidays.
Even the King of Christmas himself, Michael Bublé, knows the meaning of family fun. While we’re all listening to his album when we decorate, the singer admitted that trimming their tree with his “crew is the best chaos I could ask for.” And isn’t that what it’s all about? Pure, wonderful holiday chaos?
Then there’s Ree Drummond. The Pioneer Woman joked about the immense effort, saying that stringing all the lights on her gigantic tree solo meant her “biggest mistake was starting.” I think most of us can relate to staring at a massive project and immediately regretting it, only to push through anyway. The final result was surely worth the temporary pain.
High-Fashion and High-Impact Decor
Of course, no celebrity decor roundup would be complete without the stars who treat their Christmas display like another fashion statement.
When it comes to the holidays, the Kardashians clearly don’t know the meaning of understatement, and Khloé Kardashian is no exception. You can assume her house will be completely transformed into a winter spectacle; everything has to be perfect, absolutely flawless.
Kim Kardashian is known for always doing things her own way. Her look is traditionally austere, sticking to a very sleek, all-white display. It always draws mixed reactions on social media—some love the minimalist drama, others maybe miss the traditional colors. It’s certainly a statement, though. You cannot deny it stands out from the rest.
Finally, we have the design-oriented duo, Zooey Deschanel & Jonathan Scott. You know their display is going to be incredibly conceptual. Jonathan told PEOPLE that it takes them up to six days—six days! — to install their entire Christmas setup. And the theme? Green and pink. That’s a unique choice, and you can bet every single detail is perfectly placed, like something lifted right out of an interior design magazine.
What do you think? Which celeb is your Christmas decor soulmate? Are you team “Bigger is Better” like Chip Gaines, or do you prefer the cozy, romantic vibe of Selena and Benny?
Did you know more and more celebs like Posh Spice are ditching Christmas tree ornaments? Here is why. And you must check Mariah Carey’s latest Sephora spectacle, although some people felt it totally missed the point of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
