Oliver Hudson, the talented actor known for his roles in “Rules of Engagement” and “Nashville,” recently shared a deeply personal story about his past struggles with infidelity. Speaking on the “Sibling Revelry” podcast, which he co-hosts with his sister Kate Hudson, Oliver revealed that he cheated on his wife, actress Erinn Bartlett, in the lead-up to their 2006 wedding.
The 47-year-old actor spoke openly about his relationship, admitting that he “spiraled” after getting engaged to Bartlett in 2004.
“When I got engaged, something happened psychologically, and I spiraled, and I was unfaithful, and I was cheating, and I was crazy,”
Oliver Hudson confessed to guest Robyn Lively, who is the sister of actress Blake Lively.
Despite never being caught, Oliver decided to come clean to Bartlett because he couldn’t live with the guilt. He realized that he needed to work through his issues before he could become the partner Bartlett deserved. Oliver also credited his mother, Goldie Hawn, for playing a significant role in his journey towards self-improvement. He emphasized the importance of looking at the entirety of a relationship and not just focusing on one mistake.
Oliver Hudson: “Regret is an interesting word“
Reflecting on his past actions, Oliver Hudson expressed mixed feelings about regret. While he regrets causing pain, he believes that his choices, both positive and negative, have shaped him into the person he is today.
“Regret is an interesting word,” Oliver mused. “I’m not sure I have many regrets because if I didn’t, it was a choice that I made, whether it was a positive one or a negative one.”
Despite the challenges they faced early in their relationship, Oliver and Erinn have built a strong and loving family together. They are the proud parents of three children: Wilder Brooks, Bodhi Hawn, and Rio Laura. Through therapy and introspection, Oliver has worked hard to overcome his past mistakes and become a better partner and father.
Oliver Hudson’s candid admission serves as a reminder that relationships are complex and require constant effort and growth.
