Selena Gomez has opened up about her future plans in the entertainment industry and her love life in a candid interview on the SmartLess podcast. The singer and actress, who has been juggling multiple projects across different platforms, said she is leaning towards focusing on her acting career and putting her music on hold.
“I do feel like I have one more album in me but I would probably choose acting,” she told hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.
Why Selena Gomez Wants to Focus on Acting
Selena Gomez, who started acting at the age of 10 on Barney & Friends, said she never intended to be a singer full-time but enjoyed it as a hobby until it became a successful career. She has released three studio albums, Stars Dance (2013), Revival (2015) and Rare (2020), and collaborated with artists like BLACKPINK, Camilo, Coldplay and Rema.
“I started having a lot of fun with music and then touring was really fun. But I was doing my TV show at the same time [Wizards of Waverly Place] and I just found it really fun so I just kept going but the older I get, the more I’m kind of like — I would like to find something to just settle on,”
Her New Boyfriend: Benny Blanco
Aside from her professional endeavors, Selena Gomez recently went public with her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco. The couple has been together for six months, and Gomez described Selena Blanco as “my absolute everything in my heart” in a post on social media. Their relationship has been characterized by trust, communication, and mutual respect, according to a source close to Gomez.
Gomez and Blanco recently enjoyed an art exhibit together and shared a photo of them kissing on Instagram.
In the podcast, Gomez also talked about her experience working on the Hulu series Only Murders In the Building, which she acts and produces. She said she loved the show’s premise and the chemistry with her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short. “It was such a blast. I learned so much from them. They’re so funny and so kind. And the show is really cool. It’s a murder mystery with comedy and drama. It’s something I’ve never done before,” she said
Selena Gomez also expressed her gratitude for her fans, who have supported her through her ups and downs in her personal and professional life. She said she tries to be authentic and honest with them, and hopes to inspire them with her work. “I’m so thankful for my fans. They’re the reason why I’m here. They’ve been with me through everything. They’ve seen me grow and change. And I hope they know that I do everything for them. I want to make them proud. I want to make them feel something,” she said.
