Shakira is a vision in white on the cover of Latina magazine’s April 2014 issue. Shak has a lot on her plate right now, from juggling motherhood with career, to returning to NBC’s The Voice as a judge and releasing her self-titled new album this year.
The ‘Can’t Remember To Forget You‘ superstar opened up about being a mom, her relationship with Gerard Pique, her private life and more so check out her interview highlights!
On her private life being exposed: “When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world. You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel. I have so many people out there that celebrate with me when they know that I’m happy. And they hate it when they know that I’m suffering because someone has hurt me. In a way I feel supported and, in a very strange way, accompanied through life. They express so much love for Milan, so much affection. I can only hope that as he grows up he learns how to give that love back to all of those people that give him so much every day.”
On her relationship with Gerard Pique: “He’s with me because he wants to be with Shakira the person, not the celebrity,” she says. “There’s real love, there’s no ulterior motives. And I’m with him because he’s the most amazing man I’ve ever met. We want the same things, we like the same things, we hate the same things. I have never been with someone so passionate in my life.”
On future kids: “If it weren’t because of my music projects I would be pregnant already. I would love to have eight or nine kids with Gerard—my own fútbol team.”
On her new album ‘Shakira’: “I will always be a little bit of everything. There was a lot of fighting with myself about what direction I wanted to go. Throughout the process there were songs that I used to love at that moment and then hated a few minutes later.”
On ‘The Voice’: “When you’re an artist you’re so focused on your own [career]. It’s funny to see me in this role of being a mentor and helping out other young singers achieve their own goals and shape their artistic personality.”
On recording a new Spanish-language album: “The relationship I have with my Hispanic fans is very deep and intricate. It’s like a 20-year marriage, but with a lot of passion, with a lot of sex. There’s mutual understanding and trust.”
