Shakira voices her opposition against Arizona’s Immigration Law

International super star Shakira never misses an opportunity to step up and fight to defend the rights of the most vulnerable people of our society.

After becoming actively involved on the process of reconstructing devastated Haiti –Pies Descalzos, her Colombian non-profit organization, is going to build a school in the island- now the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker was not afraid to express on a press conference celebrated in Phoenix, her opposition to the new Immigration Law recently passed in Arizona:

“If this law was already in effect today, for example, I could be detained and arrested and taken away because I don’t even have my driver’s license here. I ‘m completely undocumented here,” Shakira revealed.

“The mayor is very, very worried, as well as the chief of police here,” she continued. “They’re both very worried about the impact that implementation of this law will have on Latino families, the level of abuse that will be inflicted on Latinos, with or without papers.”

Many other Latin stars have publicly expressed their confrontation about the new law like Ricky Martin, Eva Longoria or George Lopez.
