Philip Seymour Hoffman will be laid to rest in “a private service held in NY for the family and close friends“, the actor’s rep said in a statement released on Tuesday (February 4).
Although the date of the funeral has not been revealed, the rep did say that a memorial will also be held later in the month.
“Plans are also underway for a memorial service later in the month also to be held in N.Y.”
The statement continues with a request from the Oscar winner’s family. “In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Phil’s name to two charities that were very close to his heart: The DreamYard Project and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.”
“The family wishes to thank everyone for their continued support and good wishes,” the statement concluded.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday. The unofficial cause of death is apparent drug overdose.
He was 46.
He leaves behind his longtime partner, Mimi, and their three children.
