Daniel Radcliffe, famous for his role as Harry Potter in the “Harry Potter” film series, has hinted that he won’t be making an appearance in the forthcoming “Harry Potter” TV series set to debut on Max in 2026.
At the Drama League Awards on May 17, Daniel Radcliffe told E! News in an interview that he believes the producers are aiming to keep the new series distinct from the original films.
Daniel Radcliffe’s Stance on the New Series
“I don’t think so,” he said. “I think they very wisely want to [have] a clean break. And I don’t know if it would work to have us do anything in it.”
Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed Harry Potter across all eight movies, expressed contentment with this decision. “I’m very happy to just watch along with everyone else,” he added. His full interview will air on May 20 at 11 p.m.
Although he seemed firm on his stance, Radcliffe remained ambiguous about what he would do if approached by the new series’ producers. “I’m gonna be a politician about this,” he joked, “and not deal in hypotheticals.”
Currently, Daniel Radcliffe is focused on his theater career and parenthood. The 34-year-old actor recently earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the Stephen Sondheim musical “Merrily We Roll Along.” He also welcomed his first child with Erin Darke last year.
“It’s the best,” Radcliffe said about being a dad. “I never thought it would be possible for a creature to make me so tired and me still just love that thing so much. It’s been a crazy year.”
While the “Harry Potter” TV series may not feature its original star, it seems the magic will live on in new and exciting ways.
